About Myself

After I retired as a history teacher, I always wanted to create art and new things, so I decided to take on a new hobby which was to paint silk.

I studied at the Pan American School of Art in Sao Paulo, always focusing on plastic arts. When I retired I took a course on Silk painting and immeditaley fell in love. I then decided to paint silks for Belly Dancers. I asked my son Rodrigo, what now?

Where do I take this creation of mine? We ran into a famous Belly dancer in Sao Paulo called Aysha Almee and my son guided me to a silk of mine. From then on I have devoted myself for the past 7 years to paint silks, veils, wings, fan veils, silk clothes and scarfs.

My inspirations are random. They come from anywhere like, a simple flower, a garden, a leaf on the street, a picture or whatever some to me.

I have really taken pride in every project and tried to clearly understand my clients needs. I love to create, I do not know how to copy art, each piece is one of a kind and I draw from my heart.

My art room is big and cozy and was given to me by my husband in the most perfect way I could of visioned it.

I love Renoir and Monet in which I visited their work in France, Giverny. I have cried several times admiring their magical gardens.

To start painting one must study, read, research the biggest painters and one must love what they do.

For sure, I love to watch the shows the dancers put on that use my silks. I share a lot of pictures of my work on my facebook page https://www.facebook.com/SilkByThere and https://www.facebook.com/silkbythereserzedello/

I would be honored to create a custom silk piece for you or a loved one so feel free to contact me with any questions or request.

Much appreciated and with all my heart,

Therê Serzedello
